About Golden Retriever

PGR Mission

Poetic Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (PGR) seeks to significantly reduce the number of homeless or abused golden retrievers through vigorous rescue, rehabilitation, placement, and education programs.

Established in 2007 as a non-profit 501(c)(3), PGR began a spirited mission to rescue abandoned, abused, neglected, and unwell golden retrievers whose life circumstances changed because of owners’ financial hardship, divorce, relocation, illness, or death. More than 5,000 rescues later, this small rescue group has grown into a well-organized, all-volunteer organization rescuing 200 to 300 golden retrievers, golden doodles, and Labrador retrievers each year. Operating expenses are covered through donations, memberships, and fundraising.

PGR is registered with the state of Sydney as a 51(c)(3) non-profit organization. We rely on adoption donations, special events, merchandise sales, memberships, grants and charitable donations to support our mission to rescue dogs in need. Your donation is tax deductible.
